Shopping and such

Went out shopping yesterday with my mom and my friend Tammy's mom, Peggy. Mom took us to get our nails done at the OPI Nail Bar and to get a massage at a local day spa (fabulous!) before we headed out to try on wedding dresses and look at cakes.

We had the MOST fun at this one bridal salon called Bridal Bliss. God must have meant for us to find that shop because the moment we walked in, we were greeted by one of the shop owners with a very friendly, "Welcome! How are you ladies today?", an extended hand to shake, and pleasant introduction. Then the owner proceeded to make us feel right at home, looking at various styles with us and describing them in great detail. Most of the dresses they carry there are from a collection called the Victoria Collection and are inspired by Princess Grace of Monaco and her gorgeous wedding dress and ball gowns. Not only that, but the designer who creates these gowns, just happened to be there, all the way from Hollywood, CA to consult with brides, their mothers and bridesmaids on their dresses and to take custom measurements for custom-made gowns! After looking for a while and pulling some dresses, I started trying stuff and the designer, Linda, came into the dressing room to consult with me. She couldn't have been nicer and she made some very good suggestions as to what would flatter my figure and complement my skin tone. The shop owner had told me that since all their dresses are custom-made to an individual's measurements, any of the dresses in the shop -- no matter what size they were on the rack -- could be made to my size if I found one I liked. Well, I did. I found this absolutely stunning strapless, sweetheart neckline, princess silhouette dress that looks like something of the late 1940's or early 1950's, very glamourous and sweet at the same time. When I saw it on the rack, I fell in love immediately. It was a size 10, so I first held it up to me to get an idea. When I did, Mom got chill bumps. She knew when she saw it next to me that it was the one. So did I. I tried it on over my head to get a better idea and was even more convinced. Definitely the one. So the shop owner and Linda took my measurements, Mom made a downpayment (and got 15% off because they were running a special!), and I had myself a dress! I'll go back in a month to have them measure me again (since I'm losing weight) and they'll send off my order then with those measurements. The dress will be ready four months from then and will be fitted at that time. I can hardly wait!!

Tomorrow I'm beginning my exercise regimen in earnest. I'm getting up to go to 6:20am mass, then a quick breakfast with Eric (who'll be joining me at Mass), then exercise and head to work. I know I'm going to be one tired girl, but I need to get into this habit. It'll be good for me and help me lose the weight I want to lose. I'm already dieting and this will just increase my weight loss and make me healthier.

All that said, I'm off to bed. Buona notte a tutti!
