Let's Go To the Movies...

Jul 22, 2004 17:45

Time for a themed entry since lately my life has been so boring that I simply have nothing interesting to write about. Well, this theme entry is about movies. The following are some of my favourite movies and a few quotes from each. The way I look at it, a movie becomes a part of this list if I've seen it enough times to include quotes :) Enjoy! Feel free to add your faves in notes...

The Princess Bride
Starring: Cary Elwes, Robin Wright-Penn, Mandy Patinkin, Shawn Wallace, Andre the Giant, Billy Crystal, Carol Kane, Christopher Guest, Fred Savage, and Peter Falk
Inigo Montoya: You seem a decent fellow. I hate to kill you.
Westley: You seem a decent fellow. I hate to die.

Vizzini: He didn't fall? INCONCEIVABLE!!
Inigo Montoya: You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

Inigo Montoya: Hello. My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die.

[As Buttercup prepares to commit suicide with a dagger]
Westley: There's a shortage of perfect breasts in this world. It would be a pity to damage yours.

Dead Poets Society
Starring: Robin Williams, Robert Sean Leonard, and Ethan Hawke (note there are many more actors, but these are the ones I thought would be the most notable)
Dalton: [answering phone] Welton Academy, hello. Yes he is, hold on. Mr. Nolan, it's for you. It's God. He says we should have girls at Welton.

John Keating: We don't read and write poetry because it's cute. We read and write poetry because we are members of the human race. And the human race is filled with passion. And medicine, law, business, engineering, these are noble pursuits and necessary to sustain life. But poetry, beauty, romance, love, these are what we stay alive for. To quote from Whitman, "O me! O life!... of the questions of these recurring; of the endless trains of the faithless--of cities filled with the foolish; what good amid these, O me, O life? Answer. That you are here - that life exists, and identity; that the powerful play goes on and you may contribute a verse." That the powerful play goes on and you may contribute a verse. What will your verse be?

John Keating: Why do we need language?
Neil Perry: To communicate...
John Keating: Nooo!! To woo women!

Fried Green Tomatoes
Starring:Jessica Tandy, Kathy Bates, Mary Stuart Masterson, and Mary-Louise Parker

Ruth: Momma always said there was a separate God for children.

[Evelyn is cut off in a parking lot.]
Evelyn: Hey! I was waiting for that spot!
Girl 1: Face it lady, we're younger and faster!
[Evelyn rear-ends the other car six times.]
Girl 1: What are you DOING?
Girl 2: Are you CRAZY?
Evelyn: Face it, I'm older and I have more insurance!

Sipsey: Secret's in the sauce.

Ninny: I found out what the secret to life is: friends. Best friends.

Well, that's all for now....perhaps I'll include more in the next entry. Take care all...cheers and love to you!
