Still reading 'On Writing'

and this made my heart sing:

'Writing is at its best - always, always, always - when it is a kind of inspired play for the writer. I can write in cold blood if I have to, but I like it best when it's fresh and almost too hot to handle.'

Not entirely sure that what Mr King means by 'hot' is quite the same as what I mean by it... but all the same it's nice to know I'm in good company in my preferences!

And I am resolved forthwith to attempt to do without scaffolding altogether. This may just mean that I fall in a heap. But I am willing to take the risk in my quest for better stories...
