Blood or Fluff?

This is going to have to be a quick thought as have already spent way too much time writing today...

There seem to be two sorts of fiction emanating from my notebooks at the moment. One is deeply rewarding, full of emotion, tension, violence, angst... and b***dy hard to write, requiring multiple revisions and lots of beta reading (thanks trepkos!). The other is inconsequential, fluffy, romantic, light-hearted, and just seems to write itself.

So which sort should I be writing? I have seen advice that says 'you should write what comes naturally' and other advice saying 'you should write what you find most rewarding'... but my problem is that the two are somewhat incompatible.

Maybe it's just a matter of time and practice. Perhaps the stuff that hits the spot will eventually become as easy to write as the fluffy stuff.

Or maybe I should just carry on writing both at once since both are fun in their way.

Perhaps there is no 'should', seeing as writing fiction is something that I would do anyway...
