I loved this at the time and felt unable to comment - I loved the language about Cassius's 'bitter face' and Brutus's trick-playing (or is it?) memory.

And especially that last line:

He has lost enough: he can't afford to lose his dreams.

There is just not enough of Brutus the dreamer in fanfic, so this was a lovely fic to just bathe the mind in!
