NY Fashion week round up...

Feb 20, 2009 19:12

I thought I'd post a quick round up of sorts of my opinions on NY fashion week . As a whole I wasn't that impressed with a lot of the shows. There wasnt much that really made my jaw drop to the ground or inspired me much so I am hoping London is a lot more promising.

1. MARC JACOBS:
I love this collection. I loved all the colors and the whole 80s feel it had going on without being too redundant. I've not been overly kean on Marc's past few collections for MJ, so I was so glad to see something that I actually loved and once again my love for Marc has rekindled.

2. ERIN FETHERSTON:
There was something very Luella about this collection, it reminded me a bit of Luella's A/W 08 collection which is probably why I liked it so much. As much as I did love it, I have to say Luella does it a lot better.

3. PREEN:
I liked the mix in this collection, the organic shapes mixed with more geometric ones and the body fitting silhouettes. However, there were one or two pieces that I felt looked like they didn't fit in so well with the rest of the collection.

4. 3.1 PHILLIP LIM:
I love everything Phillip Lim does so the chances of me not liking his collection were pretty slim. I loved the vintage mood the collection had and Loved all the cropped jackets. It was all very cool and very 60s but done in a tasteful modern way.

5. MARCHESA:
Marchesa always, always, always make the most gorgeous gowns and dresses ever. Everything was so perfect and highly detailed. this dress and this dress are particularly amazing. As Rachel Zoe would say "I DIE".

6. MATTHEW WILLIAMSON:
I'm more a fan of Matthew williamson's patterns and prints than I am of his actual construction and silhouettes. The prints in this collection reminded me of kaleidoscopes or Spirographs. I loved how graphic they were and I loved the way they were formed around the body. The color palette was also rather great given the lack of color during the week.

Disappointments:

Rodarte; There was just something about this collection I did not like and I can't seem to put my finger on it. Normally I love everything these girls do but something about their collection did not sit well with me. It all looked rather similar and it looked a bit too thrown together in my opinion. Alexander wang; It was all a bit too a bit too black and white for me... Literally.
