Hurricane Gustav
We arrived back in New Orleans today. Our house is fine; everyone we know is safe, and nobody lost anything important to Hurricane Gustav.
We ended up changing our evacuation plans at the last minute, since the hurricane weakened so much. We had hotel reservations in Hattiesburg after the first night, which we planned to spend with friends in the country. But we cancelled the reservation and stayed on with our friends since the storm wasn't going to be as severe as first thought.
The storm wasn't much, from there. A little rain, some wind. Two trees fell. We lost power for two days, that was the most exciting part (aside from the cold showers).
