This was wonderful. I enjoyed every aspect of it: Lavender with her insecurities who's still the same person; Dean, the artist who can see beyond the surface but is still very much a man with his own scars and desires; how you transport the complexity of their changing relationship by way of the party, the painting and the intimacy. The story is a real treat, and I'm glad I didn't miss it. Thank you for sharing.

I'm so glad you enjoyed it! Especially with Lavender, who was a struggle to write. Thank you for reading :)

I wasn't sure about the pairing either when I read it, ha. In the pairings listed in the assigment I was given for this exchance it was my last choice until it just seemed to....work. Therefore I'm really glad you bought them together!

Also, thanks for mentioning the tense shifts. I rarely write in present tense, and it was a challenge in and of itself. I'll go back and pick it over again.

That was, gah, SO good. Dean is one of my favourite characters, particularly when he has had a major reaction to what happened to him during the war. And your Dean paints too. *happy*

How he sees Lavender here, and how Lavender sees herself in return, and vice versa is fascinating and beautiful. I loved seeing this from Lavender's point of view, how you've written her insecurities melding with her younger self is wonderful.

*enthuses all over the place*
