Sounds like you've gotten a lot done in just a couple of days. I figured HD would be outrageous for the installation. We got some hardwoods put in earlier this year, and ended up using a mom and pop company to install them. WAY cheaper. I felt a little guilty for not using them, but oh well... : )

removing tile does suck!

(we hit lumber liquidators for ours, although idiots us decided to do the install. hahaha! (well it DID allow us to get the nicer floor we wouldn't have been able to afford otherwise) The engineered we went for held up really well with the 85 & 55 lb idiots tearing around- it's got nail marks in it, but nothing that detracts from the pretty- granted if we had gone w/ the laminate, we probably wouldn't have the nail marks)

No, we'd have gouges through to the base material. Chopper-dog (RIP) wasn't the most delicate doggy.

That's cool. I wish I could do that sort of stuff in a house I own.
I think I've finally reached the point of finding it fun instead of work like when we were kids and had no choice.

I was going to change out the floor in the kitchen where I rent now. It's very old tile painted over with red paint. Yeah, I know... but everyone that comes over absolutely loves it. It sort of looks like old polished concrete now. Plus I don't own it so what the point. Anyway, that sounds like it's going to look sweet. Did I just write sweet?
