I remember mom warning me when I was a child not to sit too close to the TV for fear of the "radioactive waves."
I note that years later, 1) everyone would sit inches away from the CRT monitors of their computers, and 2) we would invent huge, honking flat screen TVs that we would feel as uncomfortable sitting close to as we would being in the first row of a movie theater.
