Dances with Dentists

Nov 11, 2005 18:38

I had one root canal and crown in August, and knew then that I was going to need another, but hoped to put it off until after the first of the year so my dental insurance would pick up a chunk of the cost. Today, however, at lunch, a piece of the tooth came off, and off the dentist I went for a root canal. Last time I toughed it out with my mouth open and full of hands and instruments and latex for over an hour. This time I took her up on the nitrous oxide, which upped the whole thing from seriously-about-to-freak-out, to tolerable. Four hours later the novocaine is about to wear off (already took the 800mg of motrin). Then I get to have dinner since lunch got rudely interrupted. :-)

I left this weekend open to make a push on my paper for graduate school. I'm going away for Thanksgiving and very much do not want to take homework. If I have a rough draft of the paper done before I leave I'll be in good shape.

Last night (before having to pay for the dentist (sigh) I put a deposit on an 9 day Alaskan cruise next August from Vancouver to Juneau, hosted by Spider and Jeanne Robinson, science fiction writers and musicians. Now I'm trying to find friends who might like to go with me (hint, hint). The URL is http://www.spiderrobinson.com/appearances.htm

This is my first journal entry! I got the bug from responding to other journals.
