Well, where do I start. Last term at school was a living nightmare, and working didn't help either. But, for this year, lets see what I can recap with.
Well, I spend the New Years week at Vernon, BC with the ski club. It was essentially a large, long, drinking trip with skiing. There was way too much alcohol consumed, and we all created a lot of mess in the hotel, and pissed off a lot of people. The hangover I had after drinking at least 30-40 Litres (like what 32x(30-40)oz) of beer and vodka mixes lasted two days after I quit drinking. Haven't been able to drink since. Gonna be a while about that.
But So far, I am hating everyone around me, and life in general. People are such ass-holes in general. One roommate breaks up with another, and they both live together here, and htat makes for a tense atmosphere. Everyone is always bitching or complaining about something, and it's usually me that has to either step in and do something, or they take it out on me. Really, do people really have to throw gingerbread houses at the wall when they are pissed off?
School is starting off relatively better this term than the last, though the Engineering department told me I had to add another class bringing me to two classes over the recommended limit (one class over the actual limit) so that I can finish off my first year before it is discontinued. I am swamped with work, and I am desperately trying to cope with it. I just quit my job so that I can free up my weekends so that I can actually do homework or study at some point during the week.
For classes, lets see... I have Software Metrics, which is essentially a bull-shit class that shows how to properly anaylze how Software development projects are progressing. The assignments are long and tedious, and the instructor doesn't teach at all.
Technical Writing: Well, the teacher is an art major, so that helps in easing the pain. We are analaysing advertisements and the effectiveness of various technical (informational) documentation.
Painting 353: Well... Deacon is a great teacher, and I am looking forward to another term with him. I stretched two 1.5' x 3' canvases already, and painted one daytime sky with clouds in oil already. Just need to do the night scene by thurday....
Anatomy Drawing 347 : This is a painful class, but at least I am improving on my drawing of realistic human figures, this term finishes off the arms and head, and move into dynamic life drawing and mechanics of form.
Art in Theory and Practice (499) : Performace arts, and the rationale behind them, and how to go about succeeding in doing what other people may not have thought of .. that one video was messed : "The men, with three canvasses, painting three X's with three poodles dipped in blue paint." Geh, I have to perform by piece by Feb 12th...
Computer Arts - Video and Animation (333) : Well, this will be a pleasnat change than the long long hours spend in photoshop and illustrator creating those giant posters. Editing 8000x12000 pixel images is time consuming.
Economics 209 - I hate this class with a passion, and the monotonous teacher as well.
Well, that brings me up to pretty well today.
I sold another painting of mine for just under $100, just some random forested night scene, it was nice, and I wish I didn't sell it, but I do need the money. Now, if only I can get more than $20 for each my drawings, I would be set.
It's late.
