Remote Control Toilets
Well, yet another day of Okoppe Maddness.
Today started off with a nice long sleep in seeing as the fishing trip was cancelled (too early). So, at around lunch, we went to the Yukijirushi Milk Plant for it's opening tour. That lasted a about 20 minutes. Afterwards we decided to walk back for some lunch and then return later for the tour.
We ate at this quaint little family run ramen restaurant, and it was good.
Well, back at the house we started another load of laundry, I started to work at fixing the CD Burner, and then we headed back to the factory for the tour.
The tour included the taste test, and a full (private for us) tour of the plant. It was well worth the time. When it was all over, we each got a sample of the product (condensed milk in a toothpaste-like squeeze-tube).
Well, today was the big party. The big-head in town (owner of several companies) had us over for a barbeque dinner. He had bought a lot of food from the fresh market in Sapporo (3hrs away)~ that morning just for us. We had crab, Japanese Steak, Coddle Fish, Clams, Mussels, Some shell-fish, Prawns, Squid, ... it just kept on going. We arrived at 5pm, and gorged ourselved (this included a nice sampling of the finest wines, and various kinds of Sake of Hokkaido, and Italy. All in all, it was just too much. The Toro was great, and the Raw Horse (mmm)
Well, continuing on in this fasion, he presented us with gifts, wooden sake drinking "cups" (they are boxes) made from the wood of thousand year old trees, stamped and numbered each worth well over $60 each, two small glass liquour glasses with hand engraved designs by one of the Edo artists (again over $80 each), then he sent us home with a cooler of meat, drinks, snacks, etc.
The most interesting part of being at his large house was the toilet. It had a damned remote control. There was no manual way of using it, just this remote control. The toilet had lots of features, Hot air dryer (with massage feature), Bidet, and lots of other features that I dare not attempt to play with (for I knew not what they were)
After walking back home, (we were wasted), Matt, Mike, and Magnus each decided to... have a fireworks war with each other, shooting them at each other (myself and aki decided to stay at the house)
After another drinking game, we winded down to sleep at 3am.
