Summer Weekend Madness

Aug 29, 2004 23:56

Well, I have had a nice blast to end my first 13 days of solid work.  7 days a week, 66 hours a week.  Kinda wears on you a bit.  Glad I get 2 days off before my next stretch which ends on the 17th.

Anyhow, back to the weekend.  Saturday began with a shopping spree.  Student Loan money gave me enough to more than finance my books and still leave considerable amount for "supplies".  So, I went to every fur selling place in town and bought a lot of assorted furs.  And the best part was the various large discounts that I managed to acquire. Mostly in part to one store not taking down sale signs, and giving me 50% off (and all the other stores wanted to give just teh 20% membership discount)  But because I had a receipt from the same day, they were obliged to give me all my purchases at the same discount rate.  That was good.    What made it even better was that one of the Employees at Fabricland overheard me saying that I needed a better sewing machine... And right out the blue, just offered me a brand new Kenmore.  Not sure on the details other than her daughter left to Montreal, didn't take it, and she doesn't need it, and it's still new in box.  I need to call her up tomorrow and arrange to pick it up.

Then came the fur-dinner at Montana's.  The dinner was the same as every other one, but with the (re-)addition of silverlinz. And then for just a random spur of the moment, full-moon inspired craziness, we went five-pin bowling at this small little joint in the south.  The drive down was trecherous as Deerfoot South was backed up and not really moving (it was 10:30pm... really, why is it worse than rushhour?)
But irregardless, the bowling was such a blast.  And we all so made so many lude comments and opened ourselves up to interesting moments.  I wish I had a (video) camera.

Sunday, Well. Woke up around noon, being a long night Saturday.  And headed over to Janna's place for a house-warming BBQ type thing.  It was good.  Though I was disappointed at the lack of meat.  Those vegetarians are cropping up everywhere now.

I so need to organise a laser-tag game.  Been a while since I have done that.
