Gobble, Gobble, Gifts and Football...

(I hope you all caught the Harry Potter reference in the title there...I was most proud of it. Very clever, if you will. =^)

So today was the annual Zuercher family holiday extravaganza. My parents are always really, really busy the last week in November with Nutcracker rehearsals and performances, which means that they have very little time to celebrate birthdays and put up Christmas decorations, etc. This is most unfortunate considering that this is the time of year that one usually does this, not to mention that my birthday is on Sunday and Nate's is next Wednesday. So we've begun a tradition of doing everything at once on Thanksgiving.

This morning I actually got up in time for breakfast, afterwhich we opened our birthday presents. It was pretty sweet. I got a JC Penny gift card so I can go buy clothes after my brace comes off, the sequel to a fantasy book I'm rather fond of called Eregon. (The new one is called Eldest. It's got a pretty wicked picture of a red dragon on the cover. Chances are you've seen one if you've stepped foot in a bookstore lately.) I also got the Phantom of the Opera movie soundtrack, which is SO COOL! And my brother bought me the Harry Potter and the Prizoner of Azkaban DVD.

After breakfast I promptly went back to bed, being unable to cope with such early hours. (9:00 am...honestly, how can you all manage being awake at such times??) But yeah, then I woke up, messed around with my CD, watched the Broncos clobber the Dallas Cowboys, and then it was time to eat.

AND ohh Lord did we eat...the most tender, juicy white turkey meat you ever tasted, smothered in homemade gravy, with sweet potato casserole, seasoned roasted potatoes, sweet onions in a creamy cheese sauce, stuffing, and baked cinnamon apples topped off with a heaping helping of either pumpkin pie or pecan pie topped with whipped cream. *dies* You'd never believe my mom cooked for only the four of us, would you? Believe it or not, I've inherited my mother's gift for cooking...so whoever ends up marrying me will be a very lucky man indeed.

After dinner we watched Harry Potter. It was pretty awesome. I couldn't help thinking about Cameron and Barbera and Johnny O and Ms. Henning while watching it, though. Their Halloween costumes were "bloody brilliant"!

Hope you all had wonderful holidays!

~Kim
