My Favourite City

Sunday I had the privilege to spend the day with some of my favourite people in my favourite city, Toronto. It was a gorgeous day weather wise, not too sunny so I could wear my actual glasses that allow me to actually see without blinding myself but also warm enough that there were a few times where I was able to take off my sweater and just be in a t-shirt. Oh and the day we had! Our first stop was the dispensary, Zen Zoo. It felt like I was in a modern day apothecary. They had a menu of which strains they carried and the characteristics of each, for example some strains were better for full body relaxation and others for euphoria and creativity. I chose to go with Jungle Juice and I stand wholeheartedly behind my choice.

Downtown Toronto is so interesting, it's what I imagine Times Square must be like. All the tall buildings, and advertisements. So many people everywhere, of all walks of life. At Young and Dundas, we were treated to a street theater performance involving fire and flaming whips. Billions Cobra was his name and could he ever entertain. I loved hearing the sound of the whip cracking and witnessing the fireball it produced. I wish I could have been chosen to assist.

I also got to spend some time in The Distillery, first at El Catrin. We were given a table inside where the ambiance and decor were spectacular. Our server was really chill and friendly. The guacamole guy was also pretty awesome and he made us some incredible guacamole from scratch right in front of our eyes! We basically inhaled the two grande orders. SOMA was the next place that stood out. I got some delectable chocolates and had a spiced chocolate shot. "A dark chocolate drink layered with a spark of chili peppers, orange peel, ginger and our special blend of spices." I needed a glass of milk afterward, it was so spicy. It was also incredibly delicious and I'm glad I took the opportunity to give it a try.

We had dinner at The Hogtown Vegan and I had my first taste of seitan (delicious), buffalo sauce (unnecessarily spicy), and vegan mac and cheese (fantastic). Afterwards we went back to the home of my friend's parents where I learned how to play backgammon and made a new feline friend. It was all in all a most wonderful day. Life is grand!
