The chickadees in my yard would like it to be known that it is an outrage, an ABSOLUTE OUTRAGE, that their access to the feeder is occasionally disrupted by human activity. They can stuff all the sunflower seeds they can handle down their little gullets 99% of the time, but every so often I have to be out there to take the car in or out of the driveway or do some other task, which means that they can't [don't want to] visit the feeder while I'm there. And for those few minutes of time, the chickadees are STARVING TO DEATH. Really. It's so obvious that they will starve and how can I be so cruel to them?
(I find this hilarious. The sparrows, the juncos, the finches--when I'm out there, they just go off somewhere else for a few minutes and chill until it's safe to come back. But the chickadees sit in the linden tree and scold me so hard I fear their little black caps are going to fly off.)
So, hey, local-ish people, I have to get rid of a shedload (somewhat literally) of stuff before we move, and what better way to do that than with a moving/yard sale? I've been planning to do this on Sunday, May 1, around noon or 1 p.m., although the date could potentially also be May 8 or May 15.
But what's even better than a yard sale? A yard sale with MULTIPLE SELLERS! Because then there are multiple reasons for people to come buy stuff.
Anybody want to join in in a yard sale on that date? We have plenty of space, an accessible location (in the Central District, not far from Capitol Hill), and decent foot traffic, and the more people participate, the better the chances for commerce on everyone's part. The last couple of sales we had here were great, and I would love to have one last blowout Seagoth community sale before we move to the other coast, in addition to clearing out my stuff and knowing it's going to good homes.
If you're interested in joining in, leave a comment, and please pass the word on to others who might be interested (including on other social-networking sites).
