Gah.

Friday we made a quick stop at IKEA and then went to the Fair and had a very enjoyable time even beyond meeting famous crab fishermen: lots of animals to observe and touch, produce displays, fascinating crafts and collections, wine tasting (really!), trashy food, and the endless parade of human behavior, as well as an unexpected encounter with domichan. There are photos, but as with everything for the past month, I don't know when I'll get to them.

Saturday we ran in and out doing errands (which included another unexpected encounter, this time with tricelt), I cleaned the refrigerator, changed the sheets, bagged up a lot of trash, and did laundry, morthael fixed the leak under the kitchen sink and cleaned out the entire under-sink cabinet, and gave Shylah a bath. That evening, we discovered that Shylah was manifesting symptoms of an upper respiratory infection, AND has chewed a gigantic hot spot onto her tail (and later chewed off the gauze we tried to wrap it up with, because we don't have a medical collar for her to prevent that sort of thing). This latter thing is a sign of a severe upsurge in her separation anxiety; we've been out so much over the past week and a half that she freaked out and started taking out the anxiety by chewing. Due to this, we decided not to go anywhere Saturday evening so as not to worsen her anxiety.

Sunday we took Shylah for a car ride to give her something enjoyable and some "pack time," and picked up some takeout for lunch in the process. After eating, we took down most of the old broken cheap curtain rods and replaced them with new ones we picked up at IKEA, except that we have two more that need to get done so I'll have to go back and get additional rods to fix those. I also washed all the curtains that go on those rods, and discovered after the fact that the canvas curtains used in the office and kitchen shrank. :| I'll need to get new ones for the office. There was also some other miscellaneous straightening up, but we sort of lost impetus with all the other things going on, and didn't finish anything we'd intended to. Also, Shylah started on another hot spot, at the point where her left leg meets her belly, though so far it's just inflamed and not chewed open.

morthael is now on his way to Astoria for three days of work. And yes, this is going to cause further issues with Shylah's separation anxiety. I am leaving in a few minutes to take her to the vet, because we can't get her to stop the chewing without help and I don't know if we caught the one on her tail in time to prevent infection; they warned me that they're totally booked up and this will be a "when we can fit you in" circumstance, so I could well be there for several hours. Fortunately I don't have anything pressing at work this morning, but still. morthael won't be back until late Wednesday night, because school starts Wednesday and he's coming straight back from Astoria and going to class. For the next three months, he will have NO free evenings, and probably not much weekend time.

And on top of all else, my face is inflamed and freaking out, and I can't figure out if this is due to standing in direct sunlight for too long on Friday (thanks to the famous crab fishermen) or a reaction to something I put on it. This is minor but it makes all else that much more fun.

Yet again, though: Never boring.

whatidid, whining, domesticity, shylah
