Nope, it's from Yuu Yuu Hakusho. It's a really good anime, even if you don't like anime usually.

Thanks for this - I was just looking for something working with 'colored' images - ie cartoons, anime, etc. This works like a charm!

Interesting. I didn't think this would really work, but I tried it with a couple of different bases, and I liked the results. I made the icon I'm using here with this method.
