Rules and FAQ
Inventors! Please make sure to track this entry! I may not be able to answer questions all the time, so let's make this a team effort to keep things running smoothly.
R U L E S
✔ icontraption is a community for people who do not have a graphics journal. If a user wishes to leave their old community and start posting here, they must make sure to make mention of their old community, and give a reasonable explanation of why they're leaving, however if the members find this reason to be unacceptable, they have the right to turn you down. If you are rejected for this reason, you can try to apply again in four weeks. To avoid rejection, you should only apply as a member about a month after you leave your old graphics journal so that we know you've officially left it.
✔ This is not an elite community, so all graphics makers are allowed and accepted. The only reason to reject a user will be based upon wether or not that user is currently involved in a graphics journal.
✔ If an inventor is causing trouble in the community, please bring your complaints here. The maker will be contacted, and if the issue continues, that inventor will have their access to the community removed. If a member is banned, they must wait two months to re-apply for membership. If that member continues to be an issue after being re-accepted, they will be banned and not allowed to apply again.
✔ When posting to the community, you may either make the post directly to the community, or cross-post with a link to the original post on your journal. Both are acceptable ways of posting. Please do not make pimp posts to this community. The only exception is if you add a promotion to a post with icons.
The minimum of icons per post is 20 to avoid spam. You can have up to four sample icons, but all icon posts should be under an LJ-cut, or if the post is cross-posted a link to the original post.
✔ When applying to become a maker, you will need to add the phrase "wrench in the works" somewhere in the post to prove that you've read through the rules.
✔ When you've been approved to the community you will recieve access to every part of the community. Please do not abuse this power or you will probably end up getting banned. Everyone has access in case people disappear and don't have time to fix the community, but everyone should agree on any changes that need to be made to the community, profile, or layout. Feel free to make a post to the community with anything you feel should be changed. Once every three months, a new header will be made by a randomly chosen member of the community. At this time, small details such as icons in the profile, or the accent colors of the community may be discussed and changed.
✔ If you get randomly chosen to make the header for the community, please try to contact us immediately. If we do not hear from the winner of the drawing in a week, a new inventor will be chosen instead.
✔ If you decide you want to have your own graphics journal down the road, I'm afraid you'll have to leave us. Please comment to the application post if you are planning on starting up your own graphics journal. The last post you are allowed to make to the community before your access is removed will be a promotion for your new graphics journal so that your fans will know where they can find you!
✔ Please make sure to add a warning to your icon posts if the icons your sharing include NSFW material, or anything that may be distasteful to certain people groups. That includes gore, mature content, horror, a lot of .gif icons, an exessive use of the color pink, dessert themed icons for people who are trying to diet, or icons with crude humor. These don't really have to be serious warnings, in fact, it's more funny if they're not... but we'd like to know what we're getting into here XD
✔ A table of contents would be helpful, but is not necessary when posting graphics here. Tags however, are. It may be a pain, but please try to tag all entries to this community with every series that is contained in your icon post. This is mostly so that people can find icons of the stuff they like best.
✔ This is a friendly community for all fellow icon makers, so let's try not to have any drama. No bashing, no stealing people's icons as your own, no vandalizing the community or profile, no spamming, no non-graphic related posts unless it's a question directed to the other inventors or the members of the community. This is not a discussion community though, so please don't be offended if we ask you to remove a post from the community.

You need to read the rules to find out! Please scroll up to the rules section of the post and read through it carefully to find the code!
✔ IS THIS COMMUNITY FOR A CERTAIN TYPE OF ICON MAKER ONLY?
No it is not. All types of icon makers are welcome to join! This is not for elite makers, this is not for anime/manga makers, or stock/fashion makers, or dr. who/sherlock makers. This is a community for everyone!
✔ HOW SHOULD I POST MY GRAPHICS TO THE COMMUNITY?
You are free to either cross-post, or make the post here. If you want clearer instructions on the posting rules, please scroll up and read the rules.
✔ CAN I PIMP OUT THE LIMS I JUST JOINED IN HERE FOR EXTRA POINTS?
Pimp posts are not allowed in this community, but if you're posting icons to the community, you can attach the promotional banner to the bottom of your post.
✔ THE RULES SAY 20 ICONS MINIMUM, BUT I'M POSTING BANNERS/WALLPAPERS, NOT ICONS!
Then please ignore that rule and post your wallpapers or banners. I won't have a minimum count for larger graphics.
