20 Stocking Anarchy Icons
So two of the moderators at otp20in20 opened up a sister community solo20in20 for individual characters rather than pairs. I just had to join in because, as with their first community, I really like the freedom it gives us to explore many different types of anime, manga, video games and artists depending on what our monthly mood dictates. Plus I expected the competition to be as fierce here as it is there and thus far I have not been disappointed. Also the themed challenges (this month is Snow White) is an interesting twist!
I'm probably crazy to think I can handle two 20in20 claims a month (is currently ignoring other commitments to make graphics *dodges stones* >.>) but we shall see... I just like being both inspired to make icons and also motivated to actually then post them in this community as a result, instead of having them gather dust in my folders.
Anyway, enough rambling, you came here for graphics not text! Tonight I bring you 20 icons of Stocking Anarcy from Panty & Stocking With Garterbelt. This series is weirdly awesome and I love this character because her emotional range is as varied as the lolita garments she dons (from sweet to gothic) and I had so much fun working with the different image styles (from chibi to realistic), trying to capture the many sides of her character. Please help yourself to any icons that catch your eye, but kindly remember to:

01. When I was browsing and saving potential images to use for this claim (this is how I end up with more images than I can actually use >.<) I saw these two and just had to put them together. You're basically seeing Stocking as she is (literally, seeing as she is naked) and reflected in the mirror, her soul aka her angel form. The contrast between her playing the guitar and singing (ok maybe she's suppose to be doing something a bit more graphic, but let's be naive here for the sake of my concept) is also interesting
02. This is Stocking shrunk down and inside Brief's body, riding a red blood cell and clearly having too much fun to be concerned with what vital organs she may be damaging with that sword of hers. The anatomic heart brush seemed appropriate in this case, anyway you have to have such an atypical heart symbol for such a series!
03. You can't have a PSG icon set without using the 'censored sign' at least once and it worked so well for the hidden theme. For the record she isn't completely naked under there, she is wearing panties... but use your imagination ;P
04. Too cute an image to pass up! She looks so adorable with her soap and rubber ducky, surrounded by bubbles... but we all know no matter how clean she gets, the mind will stay dirty: Panty must be rubbing off on her >.>
05. The Seven Deadly Sins, at first glance Lust seems most obvious because of the image (more so if I hadn't cleaned up the err mess) and text, but since this is Stocking we're talking about she is likely fantasizing about having cake... so Gluttony
06. I definitely had to use Stocking in her Angel form for this theme, because of the amount of lace and ribbons already part of her outfit. I juxtaposed the artwork with an equally fitting stock photo that brought out the colours, and tried to give it a soft vintage feel
07. Of all the shoulder crops I could have used, I just had to go with the floating head! Also rainbows make great hair accessories, especially when you have anime hair!
08. I was inspired by the phrase 'pick your poison' in reference to the two main obsessions that occupy Stocking's mind on a daily basis. Also, it's an x-ray vision of her skull and brain! This icon looks like it took no time at all until you realize that I foolishly worked with an image from their CD booklet and had to manually draw over/cover up pieces of text...
09. Visually speaking, this icon turned out a lot different than I envisioned and could have easily fit the 'laces' theme! I just had to icon Stocking in this outfit because she looks so sweet it hurts. The border(s) is around the bottom image, I just added the little chibi style Stocking because I enjoyed the layering effect created and contrast between the two art styles
10. I couldn't think of any scenes in which Stocking was sleeping, so I went for this one of her relaxing after a hard battle and most likely daydreaming about candy again...
11-15. This is what Stocking would look like as Emily the Strange! Traded in the purples/blues for black, the pink for red and used some of the coolest images of her I could find to make her into a real goth punk princess. The graphic style really lent itself to this kind of simplistic tri-tone colouring; also tried to alternate between the use of white and black space for added impact
12-20. I rarely make my Artist's Choice icons into an actual set, but I loved the various expressions on her face (snarky, shy, scared/shocked/surprised, serious, sweet) and couldn't pass up the chance to work with them all
Most fandom images used were found at PSG Wiki with additional content from Anime Paper and Mini Tokyo or through a Google search. I also have a general list of resources (that desperately needs updating as soon as I have the chance) but if you want to inquire about something specific that I used, simply ask and I'll track down the credit for you... I have them all saved somewhere, just a bit lazy and pressed for time to do so now as I need to be up early tomorrow morning *off to bed with me*
