Icon Template Help
Hi! I'm new here. I just started doing icons and it's a fun way to learn the ins and outs of Photoshop.
I have a question about templates. I've tried different types of templates and am having problems with all but one type. The templates that work well for me are transparent ones with the green sections so I can set those to transparent. However, they don't "cut" through the icon, they just lay on top. So even with those I can't get the cookie cutter effect.
The ones I'm having most trouble with are the white templates with the cutout sections. When I follow instructions and put that template onto the image, I can't seem to get the transparency set. I can set it in Save For Web, and set white to transparent, but then *nothing shows up* behind that - where's my background picture?
Maybe that's a start. If anyone can understand my explanation, maybe you'll know what I'm doing wrong??! :-D Also if you need me to, I can post pictures of what I'm doing - maybe that'll show better, and you can show me exactly where I'm going wrong.
