I'm not going to post mine over there, LOL. I just want to do this for random fun:
2006/2007:
I didn't really do much to some of these. I used Ulead Photo Express 3 to make icons back then (2006). There were no layer modes, I just pasted the texture on and lowered the transparency. The Green Day post shows some early use of negative space. :D
2009//Most Recent:
I use GIMP now. I'm still a big fan of negative space, and unique cropping. I'm crap at using textures and coloring, so most of the time I use textures as the coloring. I also HATE trying to put text on icons. Every time I try I end up hating it, so most of the time I don't do text.
