#1 I like the coloring of this one, and I think the text matches the overall mood of the icon. However, I'm a bit unsure about the crop: it's not a bad crop, but she looks a tad "boxed in": maybe a slightly closer crop would have worked better here. In terms of emotion though I think you did a good work

Thanks so much, it helps a ton! I totally agree with you, especially with the awkwardness of the crop on #2 and the coloring/brightness on #4 - it's always so frustrating when I know an icon looks a little off and I can't tell exactly why.
I generally avoid giving concrit as I'm so new to icon-making myself that I feel like I'm not ready to critique others, but as this meme is so quiet one could hear the crickets, I guess I'll give it a go

#1: Talk about capturing emotion! I like the coloring and the contrast, but the image to the right of his face and what appears to be a slight cutoff of his chin are a little distracting.
#2: It took me a little while to figure out what this was an icon of, and I'm still not totally sure what the thing in the bottom corner is, but I love the coloring, and I can definitely see the emotion in their faces. Maybe blacking out the bottom of the icon to focus on the two people would help?
#3: I absolutely love this icon - the blurriness works perfectly, and the richness of the golds and blue are wonderful.
#4: I really like this one as well - the crop is intriguing and draws the eye to all the right places. I might have moved it just a pixel or two down so her eye wasn't right at the top, but that's minor.
#5: I don't think the blur effect works as well on this icon, since it looks a little odd next to her nose and mouth. Once again, though, the coloring is lovely.
Ooh, that's definitely something I never thought of with 2. I think that must be some part of his shirt or something, because I didn't add it on purpose, but you're right, it's definitely distracting.
With 1, the subject face was obscured by the head/shoulder of the person from whom the camera was filming so unfortunately I couldn't unblock the chin. :/ But I liked the emotion enough that I tried iconning it anyways.
3 is my favorite of the bunch so I'm glad you liked it! :)
#1 is a little too dark. I think the emotion is captured well, and I like crop, but he looks a bit like he has a black eye and his hairline is a bit too sharp. I think making his face a bit later would help, and maybe you could add a light texture to bring the blue from the top down into the black
