I'll just go one by one if that's ok, and I'm no master so take all this with a grain of salt.

1. I love love love the concept of this icon. I think it's really creative and so well blended! My only qualm is that the inset image, of Black Widow and Captain and Iron Man is cut off a little strangely. Mainly because it cuts off half of Black Widow's face. Maybe a different cap, or a promotional shot of all the Avengers would work better? I think the coloring is dramatic, and might look a little funny around Black Widow's eyes, but it isn't really noticeable and I quite like the reds and blues you got out of it.

2. I wish I knew what this was from. The crop is so wide that it's hard to tell what's going on, but that might just be because I don't know what the image is in the first place. The coloring is a little yellowish, but it's not over the top and works stylistically. I would suggest changing the color of the crown to match the color palate of the icon more. Using the eye dropper on the lighter yellows of the image might make it blend in a little better.

3. I love the black and white. I think it's colored pretty well, although you might want to get a little more contrast just so your lights are a bit lighter. I actually like the split image here, and I think the close up of his eyes is a nice companion to the wider angle shot. I also think this icon could be great with the top image centered on the bottom and a big sky above them, but I do love minimalist icons so I'm a tad biased.

4. The text and the spider are great. Maybe altering the color, like in #2 would help a little, or just putting it below the texture layers you used. I'm not sure if you needed the duplicate image on the right side. I feel like it's so small and such a narrow crop that it is almost unnecessary. Perhaps just getting rid of it, or making it bigger would help bring the icon back into balance?

5. It is a bit too yellow. In #2 it was just enough to give it a vintage feel, but here I think it is a little too much. It made all of the whites and the blacks yellowish, and that just make it look a bit muddled. Maybe removing that layer would help, or coloring with curves or levels instead of a fill layer. The icon has really nice crops, and it has the potential for great contrast between the dark blacks and the whites of the beard and the suit, but the yellow makes it too monotone. I think if you tweaked those colors you could really get the icon to stand out.

1. ugh, you are so right about the coloring around Black Widows' eyes. it makes her seem almost zombie-like :(

2. It's from Picnic at Hanging Rock. It's not too pale? that was my biggest concern.

3. the way you suggest cropping the top image is actually how it's shot originally. John Ford's The Searchers. It's this famous scene where it starts off with a wide shot and then zoooom to the close up of John Wayne's face. ICONIC. but I digress. I was just trying to capture that feel with a still icon.

4. yeah, the white text is defiantly jarring now that you point it out. will work on that.

5. This was a hard icon to color. the caps come from such differently lit points :( less yellow. got it.

You've given me a lot to think about, thanks!
