Manga Coloring and Texture Tutorial

Learn how to go from this to this to
in PS 7

First, I colored in this image from Volume 24, page 69 of the YGO Manga (thanks to kokorononaka for the scan). I did this by creating a new layer setting it to multiply, and then coloring in everything. You can check out another manga coloring tutorial here. Once I was done coloring in everything, I cropped it to 100 x 100 pxl.

Then, I added this texture by 77words, and set it to multiply, 100% opacity.

Next, I made a new layer, flood filled it with #D5C091, and set it to multiply, 50% opacity.

Now, create a new layer again, fill it with #1C1C43 and set it to exclusion, 100%.

Then, paste this gradient, and set it to colorburn, 40%.

Take this light texture (by myrasis), flip it 180*, and paste it. Then, set it to lighten, 100%.

Next, take this light texture by soulspring, rotate it as well, and destaturate it. Paste it on, and set it to screen, 100%. I erased overlapping areas, so I could see Ryou's face better. The erased version looks like this.

Now, duplicate the base, move it to the top, and set it to overlay, 100% opacity.

Duplicate the base layer again, move it to the top, but this time, set it to softlight, 100% opacity.

Next, I added text. I used these settings. Then, I added white bars behind the text to make it visible. You can do this by using the rectangle tool

I did the same with the next set of text, but the text is in CAPS LOCK to emphasize it. Add another bar, and you're done!
