Summer Icontest Round One!
Well! here it is folks! The really lazy Mel has finally gotten around to a few rough plans and with some prodding from caliborn I am here to lay down the law.
Basic rules:
-icon must fit lj standards.
-all icons go in my photobucket in the correct folder. (ex: keyacko>>summer icontests>>round one>>challenge one)
-no sharing what icons you have done even with your fellow icontesters (this one will be so hard for me to follow T_T)
-for each challenge everyone competes except for the judge
-please put pictures for the challenges in the specified challenge folder in my photobucket. (chibi you can either contact me or any of the other judges for the pword to my account :))
Round One
Challenge One:
Judge: anrui_shino
Details: [ picture here ] Restriction: use a quote from Shakespeare (as long as you like, but I recommend something short.. like one or two words)
Challenge Two:
Judge: caliborn
Details: [ picture here ] Restriction: Must somehow show motion. Whether animated or otherwise.
Challenge Three:
Judge: casper_san
Details: [ picture here ] Restriction: None given.
Challenge Four:
Judge: mellie
Details: [ picture here ] Restriction: textless
Challenge Five:
Judge: orphan_kitten
Details: [ picture here ] Restrictions: None
Challenge Six:
Judge: miz_lou
Details: [ picture here ] Restriction: Have fun.
For the first round we will each choose a picture from any source (tv, movies, pictures, anime, etc). (Calipso requests anime/non real life images). Once you have links let me know and I'll put them under your details. Also, come up with some kind of unique "restriction" for the icons. Like textless, black and white, or something else that offers some type of challenge. You don't need a restriction, either. Restrictions can just be fun sometimes :) You can reply to this post to give the link and the restriction.
After all the challenges are fully ready to go, I will give a one week limit to complete the icons. Judges don't check the folders until after the deadline has passed.
Judging
How to judge the icons.
-go based on overall quality of the icon, and then onto which icons catch and hold your interest best. You will rate the icons from first until fourth.
-instead of a "mod's choice" there will be a special category that I will assign each challenge (who wants to assign me?). For example, the special category could be best cropping, coloring, or whatever else.
-Judges will be given three day's time to complete their judging.
-Also, critiques are preferred to be given. Tell the strengths and the weaknesses of the icon so we can help each other improve.
-Post a comment to this post once you are ready to judge.
-Also, everyone can vote for the challenge favorite (even you people hiding on our friends' list)
I'll have more details for the much tougher round two when time approachs :)

-Contact me if there are any questions.
-Get more people to come play with us! They can just be judges, can find us our material to play with, or they can even play too!
