Tutorial 03
Hey everyone! Now we're going to create this lovely Mary Kate & Ashley icon:

Once again I am using PSP8 to make this so it should be easily translatable, and a basic knowledge of your program is advisable =]
Dial up users are safe on this tutorial, I've got only a few images!
Open up your graphics program and we'll be ready to start :)
1. Okay, so first of all, we'll need an image, right? I'm using an image provided by http://hissandpop.com/celebrities/o/marykateandashleyolsen/. I am going to use this image: http://www.filelodge.com/files/hdd8/209734/mkandashoriginal.png (I already resized it).
2. Now crop your image to 100x100.
3. Duplicate once. Set that layer to Hard Light at 100%.
4. Create a new raster layer and fill it with #0B205D. Put the layer mode at Lighten and decrease the opacity to 62%.
5. Create another raster layer and fill it with #07B6FF. Set that layer mode to Burn at 38%.
6. Make a new raster layer and fill it with #FC4277 or some kind of bright pink. Make that layer Soft Light at 42%.
7. Duplicate your background layer and bring it to the top. Set it to 54% at screen. Duplicate it again and set it to Softlight at 100%.
8. Make a new raster layer and fill it with a peachy tan color. I chose #F7A17F (I guess you could say that it's a little orange..?). After filling it set the layer to soft light at 52%.
10. Make another raster layer and fill it with a green...I chose #2C8309. Make that layer a soft light layer and set it to 52%.
11. Make a new raster layer and fill it with #0B234B, set it to exclusion at 64%.
12. Merge all layers and sharpen to how much you'd like :) I would suggest after merging the layers, duplicate the new image and keep the mode on "Normal". Then, sharpen once. If it's too much, use the opacity bar to tone down your sharpness. In this case, I did just that, and toned the sharpness down using the opacity bar to about 42%.
My icon looks like this right about now:
14. Make a new raster layer and set it to lighten (56%). Fill it with a brown, #783B0A.
13. Create a new raster layer. Now,take a round brush ( example- http://www.filelodge.com/files/hdd8/209734/glowbrush.png) and using a bright pink color....##FE2677 is good :)...make a spot by MK's shirt (she's the one in the blue black shirt, I think, or the one on the left side..). Set that layer to lighten. Now duplicate that layer and set it to soft light - 42%.

14. Take this image and paste it as a new image. This brush is by
yumei_k :)
Take your MK & Ash image and paste it as a new layer over that brush and set it to LIGHTEN. Move it around to fit your taste. Erase around the border of the brush since if you want it to look more photo like =]
15. Now, I took the font COOPER BLACK, set it to size 13 and typed, MK & A using the color of their hair, which in this case is #F2C06A. Then I added a black glow to it and positioned it on the top of the frame, covering a little of MK's head (or is it Ashley?), who's on the left side.
And viola! You have yourself a new icon:
