I've been plotting out a literary trilogy.  My entire life I've wanted to write a fantasy novel, but, you know what most fantasy novels are like.  I probably fleshed out a dozen plots for fantasy stories or videogames, but could never settle on anything because all my ideas have been nerdy and trivial fantasy stories.  About a year ago, I got some direction, and since, I've been developing the plot, and I've built it to be about something I actually care about.  It's going to be about human nature, democracy, capitalism, violence, time, and space, but mostly the agnostic nature of our vast and mysterious universe.

I've written 3ish chapters, but then stopped to flesh out the plot more and change things up.  I'm taking my time, working out every aspect of the plot.  I'm probably going to heavily revise those first few chapters, so I'm not claiming to have anything of substance down, but what I do have now is focus.  The significance of this project, it's the first book that I've wanted to write for more than 6 weeks.  My hope is that it will some day be a thoughtful, provocative epic, with intriguing characters and grand imagery.  I want to create a melodramatic fantasy universe with eerie resemblances to our world.

This all, of course, if I can stop playing videogames, commenting on facebook, and writing on livejournal.
