Coloring help!

Any ideas how to achieve these results without selective coloring?

My sister made the first icon, so I would be happy to ask her how she did it if you like. :] I do believe it involves selective colouring though.

Oh really, well I downloaded ps7 frpm the web so now I can try selective coloring for 30 days. I believe there's a tut for that coloring already and now I'm able to use it with this ps7 :). I just was wondering is there any way to achieve similar result without selective coloring, would be nice to know 'cause 30 is just 30 days. Or then I just have to make icons involving selective coloring like a maniac :D

But I'm wondering where you downloading ps7? cuz I'd like to download it too. :D
