Trasparent Background

I want to make some avatars using this tutorial made by mermaid_pearls but i have a problem.. How can i make a background transparent??
Do u have a tut for this?

open new and there will be contents: "White", "Color Background" and "Transparent" and you will get Transparent background if you click that and then okay :)

if i already have an image without a transparent background, i usually use the magic wand tool to select certain parts and erase them. this doesn't work well with detailed backgrounds, though, so if my method doesn't work you should try spellbounds.

hi, i'm so sorry I didn't make that clear in my tutorial. But I used psd's in my tutorial. But it's simple with white and or solid color backgrounds...you can just use the magic wand tool. even in the spaces where her hair is :)
