How to go from this
to
Using Photoshop 7. Involves curves and selective color, sorry folks.
First, get your image (darker colored pictures work well). Crop it to 100x100 pixels then sharpen it if you'd like.
Next, duplicate your base and set it to screen 100% (I did mine once).
Make a new layer, filling it with a pinkish color (#e183cc in my case) and set it to overlay at 40%.
Make another blank layer and add a dark purple color (#711faa) and overlay again at 27%.
Time for curves! Go to Layer > New Adjustment Layer > Curves. On RGB, change the settings to the following:
I: 125 O: 152
Next another new adjustment layer on Selective Color. Here are the settings:
Reds:
C: -40 M: +23 Y:+63
Magentas:
C: -17 M: -14 Y: +38
Neutrals:
C: +10 M: -4 Y: -11 B: -7
Almost done! Open up Hue/Saturation in new adjustment layer. On Master, up the Saturation to +29.
Merge all layers, or add any brushes or text if you'd like, and you're all done!
I'd love to see what people make with this tutorial, so please feel free to show me!
