My very first tutorial! I got jealous of all the great brushes people were making for photoshop, so I decided to learn how to make them for GIMP. After some messing around, this is what I came up with:
Thank you SOOOO much!! I Love it when people promote Gimp!!! Hurrah!!
Some other ways of doing it too... 1)Draw Straight onto a white background and save it as grayscale and it works the same and is less tempermental I find! 2)Saving it as .gbr makes it so it won't blink... which drives me crazy!!!
I wouldn't mind having some more advanced Gimp users on my friends list... mind if I add you?? Plus.. you might like this Brushes and other resources for Gimp, if you're interested at my site - http://www.rubyraindrops.bravehost.com Thanks Sooo much for a Gimp tutorial! -Ruby
Absolutely friend me! I'll friend ya back if you can deal with tons of 30-something angst on your friends list ;) Everything I know about GIMP has been learned by pure trial and error. I would love to know people who do things differently, or know more than I do.
Will Do! That's extremly cool, I've learnt Gimp the same way... I've only started about 5 months ago maybe... and I Hated the program because I had never used a photoediting program before... and with Gimp, there's no help manual, or many people to help! Drives me crazy! Anyways... I've learned most of my stuff from other tutorials... slowly translating them... but it's alot easier now... even though I don't know all of the tools! I'd love to exchange with another "gimp-er" ;) -Ruby
Have you read Grokking the Gimp? It's not officially a help manual, but it can be very useful. It was written by a linux user, but from skimming over the table of contents it appears that all but the introductory section would be applicable to windows users as well.
May I friend you as well? You're welcome to add me back if you'd like.
I don't have GIMP (although it's on my list of future programs to dl.) I just had to say your 'poke the bunny' icon gave me my first giggle-snort of the day.
Hmm, funky. Might be a difference in versions, or I just have something exceptionally buggy. The Script-Fu > Selection >Brush procedure seems to work, at least. Nonetheless, thanks for the informative tutorial, eh?
