Question! Whenever I use my Photoshop 5.5, the lighting turns out all screwy when I paste the picture. For example...

1. My normal picture before I paste anything.
2. When I paste the picture onto Photoshop, the lighting and contrast brightens. This happens when I crop it on Irfan View or on Photoshop.
3. I add my effects...
4. And when I save onto Photoshop, it comes out dark again automatically.
Is there something I'm doing wrong or is this just how Photoshop is?
