Okay, this is not an icon tutorial but I guess it can be useful :)
First of all, I set Magic Wand Tool and selected the skin area, but do not include the lips! Normally, the tolerance is at 32, but sometimes you have to change it. Then I created a new layer, clicked on it. See the selection is still there. Now go to Edit/Fill, set Color and choose a darker shade of red, I used #e2919a here, set the blending to soft light, 100% opacity.
Now the eyes. Use your Elliptical Marqee Tool to select the eyes. Make sure you're on your base layer. Select one eye, then create a new layer and use your Brush tool to fill the eyes with #2cb4cd, Courteney has beautiful blue eyes. Soft light, 57% opacity.
Now let's see what to do with the lips. Use Polygonal Lasso Tool to select her lips, make sure you're on the base layer. Create a new layer again, go to Edit/Fill and fill the layer with #ffa4f3, Soft light, 100%.
Now let's color the robe. Select the base layer, use the Magic Wand Tool, but make sure you didn't include the skin or the background. Create a new layer, and fill it with #c003cc, hard light, 20%.
The next step is her hair. Select it with Magic Wand Tool, new layer, and fill it with #6b3505, soft light, 100%.
Now Courteney looks good, but the background is still grey. Select it with Magic Wand Tool, create a layer and fill it with #287595, soft light, 100%.
