Creating Swirly Brushes

May 21, 2006 16:22

Okay I know that is isn't for icons but they can be used on icons so i will post this here :)

hopefully it will help somebody no matter how simple it is :)

okay so here is how I did it, using photoshop cs2

1} open up a blank canvas, any size, depending on how big the brush will be, make sure your background is white

2} using a black 1px brush, scibble, swirl, anything, it doesnt matter if it is messy, you can also use 3px brushes as well for added effect

3} next go to filter>liquify and using these tools mess around with the swirls, my favourite is mirror and push left, bloat is not a good tool to use

use these

Forward Warp Tool
Twirl Clockwise
Pucker
Push Left
Mirror

once done click ok and then duplicate layer, you can set this to muliply to make the lines bolder/darker

next (this can be skipped) layer > new and fill with a black - white gradient, mostly black, and set to screen

then flatten image, and go to edit > define brush preset and we are ready to go :)

hpe this helps somebody

other brushes i made :)

hope somebody can use this
