As I'm working something, I'll save the PSD file as 06 or whatever, but then when I save it as a jpeg, I'll usually rename it as 06a - and then it won't stick the copy thing on the end. ;-)

Try using Save For Web... instead. It'll get you around the filename problem and give you more options for optimizing your JPEG.

If you're working with a preexisting PSD and you save to JPEG the JPEG will always be a copy insofar as the PSD still exists and is not overwritten, the JPEG being saved as a separate file. This is a desireable state of affairs because if the PSD was destroyed when you save to JPEG you would lose all the layer information and not be able to edit the file further.

thanks for the icon love.

yeah, i've been just deleting the 'copy...' it's just annoying. im working on a moodtheme right now so the monotony is pissing me off. it must be something new to 9.0...i never had this issue before.

i may just do it the 'save to web' way. i usually don't even pay attn to that option. thanks.

i had this problem also, but i found out if i saved to a different folder instead, the 'copy...' part disappears; but of course, deleting works also.
