This question is asked a lot. Hit ctrl-H to get rid of the grey 01 and envelope, and the blue line. Or go to view >> extras. The extras should be checked, just select it and uncheck it, and they should go away.

Try Strg+H or View>Extras to turn that off.

That's just the guide for slicing images, it's not hard to get rid of. :D Mine pops up sometimes too and while it's a hassle to always have to go and get rid of it (very repetetive at times) it's easy schmeasy ^_^

Just go up to View->Show. "Slices" is probably checked. Just uncheck it and it should get rid of it. ^_^ Also, it you have the pen tool selected, the slices automatically come up and they don't disappear until you go uncheck them again. I hope that solves that for ya. :D

Also with the screencapping, I think you're having the same prob I had with my capping before I discovered how to do it. Are you capping it by using the Print Screen (PrtSC) button on your comp, or by some other means?

I use to have your screencapping problem and then stumbled onto the answer by accident.

I normally use Print Screen to do screencaptures and I use to get just a black screen in MS Paint.

But then I found out that if I held down Print Screen for about 5 secs, let go, and then press it again for another 5 secs and then paste into MS Paint, it would work.

Lol, because I was annoyed and I held it down without realising it until later when I pasted into MSPaint.
