Saving gifs in gimp

I make gifs using gimp. they end up looking like this:




I know the reason is because gimp will only save gifs in indexed color. I was wondering though if it would possible to make my gifs cleaner looking such as this one:





I would appreciate any help! If i isn't possible in gimp I would love suggestions for an other programs.
