please check the first post in our community FAQ. i think you'll find the answer to your question there.

also, our comm rules state that any image over 400px on any side needs to be under a lj-cut. thx.

Ok. I'll fix that.

I did look there, but maybe I missed it.

the very first post in our FAQ list (and another one a few down the list) explains why text might appear too small or too big. it probably tops the list of most-asked questions in this comm and why it's in the FAQ and memories more than once.

wait, are you wanting to actually crop an icon from that image? or just use text from it to create your own text icon? if the former, then yeah, as ibonekoen points out below, the text is bound to be nearly unreadable after cropping.

The former. But just quotes of it, if that makes sense. I've seen it in other icons, but I'm not sure how it's done.

ok, are you cropping that bit and dragging it to a new image window?

Oh, I hadn't thought to try that!

well, i only mentioned it because if that had been what you were doing, it could have been compounding the problem. your image is 300dpi and icons are typically done at 72dpi. if you try to drag a crop from your image over to a 72dpi canvas, it'll look itty-bitty.

Oh. I see. I'll have to check my settings, that might be why it's tiny.
