I'm trying to open my video to make a gif, but the video in the screen is all white. How do i fix that?

This means that your video format isn't the right one. There are only few formats that work for photoshop.

Found this on the internet:
MPEG‑1
MPEG‑4
MOV
AVI
FLV from QuickTime is supported if you have Adobe Flash 8 installed.
MPEG‑2 is supported if an MPEG‑2 encoder is installed on your computer.

Oh I figured it. It has to be a mov.file, so you'll have to convert.

I just upgraded to CS4 when I bought my new laptop a few weeks back after having used CS2 for the last two years. When I try to make .gifs in house, that window doesn't come up at all; all files are automatically opened in a standard canvas. Did you have to do anything specific, open things a certain way, for it to work?

I go to File > Import > Video Frames to Layers. The video is has to be in one of these formats.
MPEG‑1
MPEG‑4
MOV
AVI

There are converters online that you can get to do that with your video. But that's how i do it.

hey i had that problem too...
did you already fix it
u need to convert it into a mov
then export it or open it it does not matter
but it was confusing for me at first too
