I'd like to know how you manage to get your coloring to look like this:

First of all: thanks for the question!

I'm not sure about the second and third ones you gave me. What aspect are you interested in, in particular?

(The last one is pretty much separately colored in)

And the first one maybe falls into the category of matte/flat/pastel I am already writing that guide for.

The icons I've been given as examples for that are these:

Yeah, the way those highly saturated colors pop out and look individually colored without clashing or looking unnatural is what I'm attracted to in those icons. I'd love to know what your process looks like to get that effect.

Okay, I think the same basic process as for the matte coloring applies to these as well, so I don't think it makes sense to write two different guides?

I'll definitely link you to the matte coloring guide once I've finished it.

Would you be okay with me writing a tutorial on one of these icons? It would touch on the basics, like the guide, but it would be easier for me to know what to write.

I think the third one would yield the most interesting technical details, but you may choose another one if you prefer.

Sure, whatever is easiest for you. If you feel like a lot of the same techniques are going to be covered in your matte coloring guide, feel free to skip it. I'm really looking forward to reading that one, too!

Yes. The trick is that the colors have to look natural together so you have to apply saturation layers (for example) to make all the colors look like they belong together. It doesn't matter whether the end result is vibrant or pastel - as long as they all fit together. I will be sure to mention those icons you chose in my guide as well, so you can see how the technique applies.

So basically I will extend the guide a bit, instead of writing two separate ones.

Thank you!
