Any chance you could write some sort of guide for using text in gimp? (Unless I'm mistaken and you don't use gimp, sorry I read it somewhere). For the life of me I cannot figure out how to get good text; it always looks flat or too sharp/too blurry, one solid color with no lighting, etc. I read a gimp tutorial that mentioned something about using text to path?? I tried to use that but it looked really bad...

Any advice you have would be most welcome!

Ooh, that sounds like an interesting challenge, sure! I'm not sure about putting text on a path (I'm too lazy to figure that one out, myself), but I think I have a few hacks that might be helpful for fellow GIMP users.

Seconding this! I always have to do my text work in PowerPoint and paste as a new layer in Gimp, so I'd love to learn how you do it within Gimp itself!

I didn't even know you could do this! How interesting. How does that work? Do you export it from PP as a png file?

I just make the text the way I want in a text box in PP and then copy it and paste it into the icon I'm working on in Gimp as a new layer

I'd never thought about doing the text in a different program before. The results in your icons are lovely, so maybe it's worth a shot XD

Here's a link to my guide. Sorry in advance about the length...

Okay, I apologize for the length on this in advance! Here's the guide.
I hope it's helpful for you, but please let me know if I missed anything.
