IT WAS MEANT TO LOOK LIKE THE LJ EQUIVALENT OF AN IKEA STORE! D:

I have actually never been inside an IKEA store, tbh.

But... where do you buy your stylish, cheap, poorly made, Swedish furniture?

Reply

LOL. From regular furniture shops, apparently. And we had to move last year so a lot of our furniture ended up being second hand because of reasons.

All my furniture that's not from Ikea is second hand, how do people even afford brand new decent quality things?

I don't even know. Furniture is so expensive. We got a magazine in the mail the other day for...that furniture brand that's...a year or something??? But I was having a look, and they want $100+ for some spindly little wooden chair without cushions. What even...??

I've been looking for a trunk for storage and some places wanted up to $350 for a new wicker trunk. After getting a metal one of ebay and buying all the metal paints it cost me $70 and a weekend of my time all up.
Moral of the story, if you want nice new things you need a sugar daddy.

Refurbished furniture is the best. We did the same thing with a little three drawer cabinet; scraping off all the old white paint, sanding it down, and then re-staining it. Totally cheaper than buying something new.

It is frankly a little bit frightening how accurate that statement is though.

Nope! You can also browse the popular images of the day (and those not so popular) favorite and upvote comments and images. It's a lot of fun!
