What are your 5-10 personal favourite icons you have made so far in 2013?

What are/is your 5-10 worse icons you have made so far in 2013?

What techniques/improvement have you have managed since 2012?
I tried to improve in that drawing style, but I fail over and over again :/
I'm also trying to improve the compositions of my icons, making them much more complex and colorful, but I fail all time, so I keep trying.
And text.

If you could improve anything for the rest 0f 2013 what would it be?
Fake background, sharpening, blending... I think I have to improve everything a little, because iconmaking changes all time, and there's always something new to learn, so I just try to keep improving and not getting stuck in a style.

Anything Else to add?
concrit is welcome ♥

I've really loved your work this year; your colouring and use of lights and darks are really well done. Only concrit I have is that your use of text is a little weak, playing around with the blend settings sometimes helps make the text mesh more with the icon, besides that I couldn't fault you even if I tried! <3

Thank you so much ♥ :D
Ahh I know, I'm afraid of using text because I get really angry with myself when I see I can't even manage with it, and I end up deleting the whole icon... But I definitely need to start practising and playing with fonts, colours and blending, because I love text icon, but I just can't find the way to make it work in my icons :/

That sounds like me when I use text ;D
The trick I used was to get comfortable using text textures (because they're restrictive you spend the time playing with blending and positioning) then start on applying your own text directly. I know it's hard cause of the 20inspirations round expected a whole batch of text icons, but if you're not having to do it for every icon it's a good way to ease yourself into using text.

That's a great advice actually, I have some text textures, so I'm gonna try using some, and then I'll try to add my own text, maybe this way I'll start feeling comfortable and confident with text :) Thank you so so much :D

I love #1 and 7 of your favourites :)
Also, I think there are a lot of makers that would love to be able to produce a couple of the icons from your least favourite list, especially the one of Snape. The monochrome is really well executed and it has a very melancholy vibe, to me at least.

I think that's all we can really do--keep trying! :D I'm with you right there, I fiddle endlessly with my icons, lol.

I think that's the *thing* with iconmaking, you are still trying to learn something new, which is fun :)

I really really like 1,4&5 of your faves.

But I've gotta say 4 of the non faves is actualyl lovely. I really like that duality between up and down blocks (i do not watch SN, but somehow i feel it's fitting, but i don't really know?) one thing i tend to do when things look a bit out of balance is also repeat on top. I think that could help to cover a bit of the negative space on top with another blocking of the white image :D.

I also think 8 of the non is cute nice too, I think the ird thing is that he so so clearly cut on the bottom, which makes him look a bit more pasted instead of blending (not in the fading into back concept tho, just like being part of) with the icon.

And totes agree about not getting stuck and always always having room for something new ♥
