beware, all ye who enter, the pitfalls of falling in love with text
Okay. So, pretty much all my TVD icons so far have been ~experimental~ for me and kinda trippy(for me). Which is fun, 'cause the show's pretty. But I have no idea where I was going with this one. I knew I wanted to do ripper!Stefan, and I wanted it to have text. I did my coloring, and then proceeded to spend about an hour toying with the text. I blurred, smeared, motion blurred, sharpened, transformed, warped, hell, I think I even maybe tried a bit of black magic. But it never felt right. The colors never meshed. I don't even know what effect I was going for, but I think I missed it. I like the melty text, but it just looks awkward here. I love the text, but it obscures too much of his face. It's like text with eyes on top. And it's really dark. I wanted it to be dark, but more of a moody, shadowy darkness, not a muted, aborted darkness with a ton of mustard yellow.
