I am still very new to icon making, so all comments are very much appreciated! I'm always ready to learn, so whatever constructive feedback you can give me would be great.

Thank you in advance.

Hopefully this won't end up "splitting the vote" and making both our feedbacks unusable, but I have to disagree with the above poster and tell you not to let up with the brushes and textures, but just to work on honing them. I think you are really, really good with brushes and textures and that you just need to work a little on making them fit and flatter the icons a bit more. Nothing should be added just to fill space. Everything you add should somehow frame, complement, or say something about the subject of the icon. Like in the sixth one, the brush/texture nicely frames and draws the attention to the girl. But, in contrast, the bow in third icon really doesn't do anything for this icon, because it's not really saying that she's a wrapped-up present, and it's not bringing the attention to the girl, it's just there in the background being slightly distracting. The fifth icon is the best one in my opinion; it really jumps out (probably because the yellow is lovely, and it really complements the coloring on her face). I actually kind of like the plant brush/texture; because of her expression, I sort of interpreted it as poison ivy (although I'm probably way off), and I think that even the leaves and the tiny text could work together if only there wasn't that gigantic I or black bar or whatever (think about... the rest of the icon is very soft and flowy, but then all the sudden there's this opaque angular thing in the middle of it - it doesn't go).

I also think your coloring is pretty good, if nothing really unusual or out there (like I said, I think the fifth icon has awesome coloring, the rest are just fine). What I think you should work on with coloring is making the coloring of the backgrounds and the subjects coordinate better. The third icon is the worst offender here, where the girl and the background are really at odds, and there's slight hints of mismatch between subject and background in the first and fourth icons, but the coloring on the subjects themselves is perfectly fine.

My apologies for replying so late. I never got the comment notification, otherwise I would have replied sooner. LJ has the tendency to mess up on occasion, I suppose. ;)

I am slightly amused by the contradicting opinions, however I think both of you have a point and I should work on both. I enjoy working with textures and brushes a lot, but I also need to learn how to work without them. So I've been doing a bit of both.

And you're right, I was going for a poison ivy like set-up, as her character is extremely cocky and somewhat biting.

I'll take your comments into account. Thank you so much for taking the time in helping me! It's much appreciated and very nice of you.
