 --->

1. get a base. i got mine from

http://community.livejournal.com/basicbases

2. make sure the layer before the icon layer is transparent (grey and white boxes)
 erase around the base so only the grey and white boxes show up...(aka the background layer)

3. go to image > adjustments > brightness/contrast if the image is too bright/too dark. mine was so i changed it.
4. copy 2 more layers of that base.
5. for one of the new layers set it to screen.  set it to 53%. or to fit your icons needs
6. on the other new layer set it to soft light. set it to 57% or so.
7. add a new layer. fill it with ffeed1. set it to multiply. i have it to 100%, do whatever you like.
8. add another new layer. fill it with 020819. set it to exlusion. mine is at 100% but do whatever you need.
9. add a new layer, and drag it to under your 3 bases.
10. click here for textures ive saved to my computer. open with paint and choose one.
11. when you select one, copy and add it to the new layer that is under your bases...doesnt your icon look perty?
12. maybe add a new layer, and add text, or a simple heart like i did.

depending on how you want it, and what your base looks like, your icon might need some minor differances in tones, percentages, and colors. some icons look great with alittle more blue, some look better with a more faded look. you can change this as much as you want.

other icons i made with similar tutorial
