Sorry that it took so long, I have a issue, because I didn't know how make last step in your instruction: 'Then I creat a new transparent layer, use a soft brush and set the foreground color to white, paint a blob over the suitable place in the icon. :)' So I missed this step and this is for example, results of it:

It's really easy. When you're done with the coloring, creat a new layer, and use the soft brush in the default brush set of CS5, paint over anywhere you think it's suit, then decrease the opacity of this layer. The purpose of this step is to make an area of the icon looks a bit lighter :D
