Ask the maker 5.0

It's July 15th and it's time for round 5 of Ask the Maker! here at icon_talkHere you'll get the chance to ask icon makers who sign up questions about their icons and other graphics. You can ask for tutorials, guides/"How to", or ask any other questions regarding their work so the makers can compile a Q&A post with the answers to all the questions they get

Hmm, from your latest posts I love these, but any example will do :) I'm interested in your thought process, what makes you go neg space instead of another crop, decide what to put in the background, etc. Also your cuts are always really clean!

The fourth one already had that background actually (mostly, I just added the chicken wire texture and the blue bit at the top), and the Gwen one was just a case of some colouring and textures. Is that still okay, or do you want more like the ones where I've actually cut out the image like in 2&3?

You pick, I meant these as examples. But I'm mostly interested in 3 tbh, so more on that one would be great :)

Okay, I'll do a full tut on that icon, and then a more general thing on how I do negative space then :P Just finishing off a 20in20 entry then I'll get onto it :)
